There are not enough schools on Roatán for all school-aged children to attend. We build schools to provide opportunity for children to not only thrive but to create generational transformation in their communities.

The Solid Rock School was built in 2015 in Flowers Bay. The school is operated by Mark and Susan Schuler and is now at full capacity. Building schools like the Solid Rock School instills the importance of education and encourages students to reach their greatest potential.

A Closer Look

Currently at full capacity with 64 children grades K-10, the Solid Rock School’s mission is to encourage and build the skills of their students, many of whom are several grade levels behind. The 6 teachers at the school create their own curriculum and keep classes to a maximum of 12 in order to meet the individual educational, disciplinary, and emotional needs of their students. Through setting boundaries, limits, and high expectations the leaders of the school are training
their scholars to believe in themselves and their future success.

Residents of St. Helene, a remote island located off the eastern coast of Roatán with limited access to water and electricity, saw an increasing need to positively influence the children of the island by creating a place to cultivate learning. In 2011, the Abundant Life Foundation came together with this community to build the Sady Bodden School, and has since provided education for over 100 students. Our investment in this community spans beyond education to vital micro business opportunities supporting the residents of St. Helene.

A Closer Look

The Sady Bodden School provides access to education for 40+students grades K-6. The school has two teachers working in a multi-grade system, one teacher working first to third grade, the other working fourth through sixth grade. The kindergarten class is run by volunteers. ALF supports the amazing work of the Sady Bodden School by providing supplies and other building necessities, performing maintenance, as well as providing access to education and training support for their teachers and families.
